MyMatR completed their three-month pilot program at Cardinal Gibbons High School in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The MyMatR smart waste container was located in the cafeteria of the high school, where the container had maximum exposure and use by students and faculty.
Throughout the three-month period, MyMatR’s smart waste container was continuously collecting data on items that were being placed in the container, an innovative function of the product. This data determined that trash items had a 91% sorting accuracy and recyclable items had an 83% sorting accuracy.
Improvements are being made to decrease the likelihood of clogs in the container, and to increase the sorting accuracy for recycling to reduction recycling contamination.
